Improving Government Procurement Opportunities

The DC Procurement Technical Assistance Center (DC-PTAC) provides District-based small businesses with business counseling and competitive insights for navigating the government procurement process. 

As a result of the success the center had with their fall small business event, Pursuing Government Contracts: Understanding PTAC Resources, they decided to hold a Small Business Summit to ensure more financial success for local small business owners. To ensure the summit’s success, DC-PTAC was in need of a team that could offer strategic planning and execution for it.   

IGS provided the center with strategic event planning and execution for their 2015 Small Business Summit – Information. Intelligence. Impact. The event aimed to provide small businesses with the best practices to secure government contracts. IGS also provided multiple media opportunities to promote brand awareness and establish a brand identity.  

In planning the summit, IGS conducted a pre-event survey. The results from the survey provided us with valuable information on awareness level, program satisfaction, and areas of interest to small business owners. 

The goals of this event were to create market growth among the small business community by offering the insights and resources to effectively garner successful procurement and promote economic sustainability; have at least 250 attendees and increase the request for meeting from new existing clients; increase engagement in social media regarding DC-PTAC, procurement topics, and the summit; and secure pre-event and/or event coverage.

IGS utilized an integrated approach which included tactics such as interactive social media relations and creating and sharing graphic maps with local business locations. We submitted an extensive social media and media outreach plan in order to increase event exposure and attendee count. We also extended our relationships with producers and reporters who cover business, higher education and local news topics to promote the mission of DC-PTAC. 

Overall, IGS provided DC-PTAC with a wealth of opportunities to promote and spread awareness for their company and its mission.
